It has been quite some time now that I was planning for a trip to Howrah to hang out with my friends. Recently I was able to materialise my plan so here I am yet again to share the experiences of my trip with you guys via this post.
Howrah is a wonderful city with so much to indulge into hence I was really excited for this vacation. I made my travel as well as hotel bookings around 28 days in advance so as to avoid any last minute hassle. Thanks to the popular travel websites I was able to plan my entire trip in advance from the comfort of my home. So stay tuned to be part of all the amazing experiences that I had on this trip.
Train travel from Mumbai to Howrah
I prefer train travel hence I searched the list of all the available trains that operate between the Mumbai Cst and the Howrah junction via the user – friendly and time saving train ticket booking platform offered by the Indian Railways.
I booked the Howrah Duronto/ Train number 12261 for my travel as its timings suited me the most. My train departed from the Mumbai Cst at 5.15 pm and reached the Howrah Junction railway station at 7.40 pm the next day. The total duration of travel was 26 hours and 25 minutes. I booked my tickets on the sleeper class cabin of this train which cost me around Rs 740 for one way trip. On – board catering facility was also offered on this train. The train was on time and the journey was quite comfortable.

I checked the customer reviews on popular travel portals and booked the Lake Land Country Club Residency as it is one of the most highly rated three star properties located strategically on the Kona Expressway in Howrah. Things to do in Howrah
The very first place that I visited here was the BBD Bagh also formerly known as the Dalhousie Square. The Calcutta Photo Tours is one of the best and most knowledgeable activities to indulge into while in Kolkata. The tour guide walked me down the parts of Central Kolkata wherein I was amazed to see places of worship of five faith namely Muslim, Buddhism, Jew Synagogue and Zorastrian temple. On the tour I also tried some local snacks and tea in earthenware. Other places that I visited were the Jorasanko Thakur Bari and the Eden Gardens.
